I have same problem. Melotonin spray does work, warm bath and dark quite room. No tv before bedtime, at least half hour. No caffeine, no pop. Light meal for dinner.

When I am awake at midnight, I listen to guided sleep medication, you can find them on you tube. Have a notepad to write your worries . And so stints I take  ambien . I am 38, very active, work out.  High stressful job, colored vivid dreams all the time. I know it's a struggle.   But a combination of meditation, melatonin or ambien r should help.

I don't know if this helps, as I/we know next to nothing about you and your environment.  But I'll suggest that the human body is designed to work during daylight and sleep during night darkness.  So, try to be sure you get lots of light during the day and get some reasonable level of exercise.  If you have a sedimentary life/work you need to put in some time exercising, just walking for 20 or 30 minutes a day should help.  Then avoid eating and drinking anything with a stimulant in it during the hours before bedtime.  The addition of some over-the-counter (in the USA) melatonin may help you stay asleep.

If you are suffering from some distress, anxiety or other emotions that could be the cause. Are your dreaming when you wake up?  You have to ask that question when you first wake up, most of us forget about dreams very soon after we wake up.

A person your age should not have to wake up during the night if you don't drink a lot of liquids or eat before bedtime.

This is just a ramble on some things I think about relative to sleeping, the information you provided is too sketchy to tell any reader key information needed to relate to the whole of your sleep problem.
