CPAP and Still Mouth Breathing

I am a 46 year old male and have sleep apnea.  I use a CPAP with a high setting (15).  I have a mask that covers nose only because the full face mask was a bit claustrophobic.  I have noticed that I am waking in the middle of the night and morning with a mouth that is so dry I cannot swallow...teeth and tongue really dry.  I am definitely still mouth breathing, even with the CPAP.  I also noticed over the last week that my tongue is yellowish (related?).  I wake and really do not feel refreshed, like the CPAP is not really helping. I also have acid reflux, which compounds the problems.

What can I do?  Any suggestions?  Has the yellow tongue thing happened to anyone else?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

I understand your predicament. The sleep study would show your sleep architecture. It should have adequate deep sleep and REM sleep. If the apneas are controlled with the CPAP, then there could other sleep disorders which could be causing your unrefreshing sleep. The altered tongue colour could be due to a fungal infection. Check the tubing and the filtering apparatus to see if it is free of any allergens. It could also cause your symptoms. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
