Hi, the steps that can be taken apart from medications are maintenance of sleep hygiene, stimulus control, relaxation, sleep restriction, cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, phototherapy, and chronotherapy. These therapies can be prescribed by clinicians at any level but it can be better implemented by sleep specialist.
As for herbal drugs, Valerian has a long history of use as a sedative and anxiolytic. It is one of the most popular herbal preparations in Europe. It has also been reported that valerian improves sleep quality. It may have benefit for individuals with stress caused by a number of factors. When used as a hypnotic, it does not appear to be associated with "hangover" effects, an advantage over many sedative-hypnotic drugs.
Melatonin preparations belong to class of neutraceuticals and appear to be the primary sleep-regulating hormone of the body. It is secreted in relation with normal day/night cycles.
I hope this helps. Consult sleep specialist for prescription of above mentioned drugs. Take care and regards.
Yea i might have to get some the now as my sleeping is shocking , i will google that stuff you said see what it is - and ask Doc thank u :)
but i'm not sure if it would be good for you since you just had RAI. can you ask your doctor to recommend sleeping tabs for you?
i had the same problem after RAI - i can't sleep! and worse, my husband was snoring loudly it wakes me up in the middle of my very shallow sleep. it went better after taking PTU again 4 days after my RAI.
