Hopefully the time you did sleep during the study will reveal some clues as to what is going on with your sleep. I do hope you'll post again and let us know what they say. Get a copy of your report so you can take the time to digest and understand it.
Some questions to ask the doctor: Were my sleep stages in the expected proportion? If not, does that lessen the probability of the study being successful at picking up on a problem? Did I have any limb movements? Would there be any benefit in a repeat study with having taken a prescribed med that night to help achieve sleep?
Can anxiety cause sleep problems? Yes. Can sleep problems cause anxiety? Yes. So can medical issues such as medication side effect and thyroid issues. Have your thyroid levels been checked? Hyperthyroid can look like nervousness.
Thank You so much. Yes my thyroid has been checked and they are fine. Last night I took 5mg of melatoninMelatonin Melatonin time release and I still had problems sleeping but I slept tighter. It was still hard to wake up but I feel better today. I will let you know when I get my sleep study results. Do you think 3.5hours of sleep in the lab was enough??????
It's hard to say if 3.5 hours is enough. Some of that depends on the stages of that sleep, which the results will show. A short sleep time can diagnose obvious issues, but may not be enough to unequivocally rule out some issues. Unfortunately, until you get the study results everything is a guess. Let us know.
