there is a new series of surgeries pioneered by Standford doctors which is supposed to be better
I saw a neurologist and he seemed to say there was no cure for my complex apnea which requires 18/14 bipap. I just started having this 2 years ago, maybe it could be anxiety/stress. I was referred to an ENT- I definitely think that cutting out some of the tissue could help my breathing
I read about UPPP but I heard it is only 50% successful. is it very painful?
I was going to get my tonsils and adenoids removed and some tissue removed
I don't snore though, I have central apneas/hypopneas
I suffered from the same symptoms and didn't find relief until I had a UPPP, which included removing the tonsils and adenoids (sp?), and having the back of my throat and roof of my mouth shaved and scored in order for the skin to grow back together more taut. It was a miserable, horrible surgery and recovery, but I no longer snore and am able to sleep through the night. I would not recommend this procedure for a mild case of sleep apnea and/or snoring, but it has improved my life. Good luck to you.
you have to use the machine every night
even when I use it I wake up tired but it's much better than the damage sleep apnea does to me when I don't use bipap
