IS IT ALL CONNECTED???

I have just been told I have sleep apnea. It is in the moderate range. I am waking myself up every 2 1/2 min. throughout the night so I never really get into a deep sleep. Now I know why I always feel tired...

Also, about a month ago I noticed that I was waking up with sore and stiff muscles in my lower legs and hands..when I first get out of bed my feet are sore to walk on. .It would take about 1/2 hour to get loosened up. any time I rest for a while i get sore and stiff. The morings are the worst. I have been to the rheumatologist..not RA my ANA was normal as well. all  my blood work came out fine. i was told it could just a some non-specific Arthritis.

Then over the past few weeks..I have noticed muscle twitching in my muscles. It is random little twitches all over. they last just a split second...does not seem to have any pattern. It happens again ..when i am reasting or relaxing. Also, I have woken up in the morining not only stiff and sore but sometimes one or both of my arms/ hands are numb and tingling. almost like i was sleeping on it. Sometimes I was,  BUT other times i was not sleeping on it and it was numb?..I was sleeping flat on my back with my arm by my side or on my chest.???

Now I am getting myself all worked up over this..I know stress and anxiety can cause some of this..But it hard not to worry about things like MS and ALS.

Anyone have thoughts on all these symotoms? Is it all related to Sleep Apnea? Stress? Both? Something else?

- Sleep Apnea -  I feel tired never refreashed when I wake up...not getting deep sleep.
- Stiff sore muscles when i wake up...take 1/2 hour to loosen up my feet are tender and sore to walk on)
- Random Muscle twitching
- Numb arns and hands and/or legs in the moring - goes away once I get moving.

Now, I have put on weight over the past year...I know it will help with the sleep apnea if I lose some...but that is the only change I can think of...

I will be going in this week for the 2nd sleep study to try out the "Mask" to help with the sleep apnea. Will this help with the oher issues...can or does sleep Apnea..cause the twitching, soreness, numbness ect....is it stress of not knowing causing this..or both? or is it something else I need to look into? Or see a Doctor about.?

Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

Um...no doctor here but a physical therapist that just happened to have been hit by a car, suffered all these symptoms and more and just had surgery for chiari decompression. If you haven't been diagnosed with chiari, let me know when u are because all these symptoms are SO sounding like a chiari to me....but mind u, go to a specialist.....these other jokers will waste your time, money etc ...question? Do you get bad headaches?  how is your balance? do u run into walls, etc?

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a common disorder that can be serious. In sleep apnea, your breathing stops or gets very shallow. Each pause in breathing typically lasts 10 to 20 seconds or more. These pauses can occur 20 to 30 times or more an hour.

The most common type is obstructive sleep apnea. That means you are unable to get enough air through your mouth and nose into your lungs. When that happens, the amount of oxygen in your blood may drop. Normal breaths resume with a snort or choking sound. People with sleep apnea often snore loudly. However, not everyone who snores has sleep apnea.

When your sleep is interrupted throughout the night, you can be drowsy during the day. People with sleep apnea are at higher risk for car crashes, work-related accidents and other medical problems. If you have it, it is important to get treatment.

probably is all related. Sleep Apnea=Your body  not getting enough oxygen to cells and nerve endings to help them work properly and it also is put undue stress on our hearts. Anxiety comes in because you feel so crappy and the uncertainty if sleep apnea is the true cause. Moderate sleep apnea can be serious if not treated so yes this propably is ALL related.  Hang in there - hopefully you'll find the perfect mask on the first or second try and you'll be feeling better in no time.

I'm going for a sleep study in the next coupe of weeks- my doc suspects sleep apnea too- what is the sleep test like?  Did you have much trouble falling asleep?

     best wishes-
