Night Terrors.....

The past week I have woke up my boyfriend, hitting, screaming or laughing.  This morning I woke up screaming, today I feel very lethargic, fatigue, irritable and have this weird sensation in my nervous system. Could this be related to depression or not? just very confused, don't know what is wrong with me.

Until I got the VPap, I was crazy when I slept. I woke up many of a night jumping out of bed, throwing stuff off of my night stand, I even woke up one night holding the lamp in my hand, wires ripped out of it, like I was going to hit someone with it. Many nights, I would massage my wife (which I assure you she didn't mind), but I would wake up feeling so exhausted. I hit my wife with my fist, and started having dreams of choking people, so needless to say it scared me enough to move to the couch after that. But about two years after I moved to the couch, I got the sleep mask, most of my night crazies have gone away. I still wake up occasionally on the floor, hehe.

Good luck on your findings.

The fact that you even ask if it can be related to depression makes me think it is.  Deppression can cause various sleep problems from sleeping too much, to too little.  When I'm under more anxiety and depression I tend to sleep more during the day which effects my sleeping at night.  When we dream we are in the early stages of sleep which Is why people will often dream after going to bed after waking in the middle of the night.  If you have anxiety or alot on your mind you can have more dreams or just more tossing and turning from the inability to fall into a deep sleep.  Caffeine can effect this as well.  I tend to drink coffee all day especially when depressed because when feeling deppressed I am often exhausted and not sleeping well at night.  Your "weird sensation" is probabally anxiety related.  Often symptoms of anxiety hard hard to verbalize they range from everything from irritability to tingling/numbness, hard time breathing to inability to relax and not constantly think.  This creates huge problems when sleeping.  There are night time anti anxiety medications such as trazadone.  I would stay away from benzodiazepines though.  They are anti anxiety drugs really meant for severe anxiety non-repetitive dosing(such as having to fly when afraid of airplanes) and are often prescribed to easily for a more regular type of anxiety.(they have severe dependancy issues with withdrawal that can result in death)
