Severe Night Sweats

I have been experiencing severe and I mean severe night sweats.  It is so bad that my hands literaly look like I spent too much time in the water.  It does not matter how cold the room is I still sweat.  I have to change the bedding and my clothes every night.  This has been going on off and on for years but this time it is consistant for a least a month.  I take Lexapro but have been for a long time so I'm not sure if that is the reason.  Does anybody have any advice on what to do about this.

Hello David.

Lexapro can cause night sweats. And there are some other causes that you need to consider. Please consult your physician and discuss the possibilities of a thyroid disorder and hypoglycaemia.

Hi,
Most of the antidepressents cause night sweats and lexapro too has been found to cause severe night sweats in patients using it. It would be advisable to consult your doctor regarding this as he may adjust the dose or switch drugs.
