Sleep Apnea and daytime sleepiness

by gigi4748, Aug 02, 2009 01:14PM
Is there a health danger to having severe daytime sleepiness due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

I have been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. I sleep with a Bi-Pap Machine at high settings of 15/11.
At first it worked quite well. Daytime sleepiness returned. It is severe. I was prescribed Nuvigil but due to adverse reactions could not take it.

Are there any other solutions to this problem? I have seen my PCP and he does not want to treat me for this. What type of Physician do I see for this problem?

If anyone has had a similiar situation or has information regarding this issue, I would really appreciate advice.

Hi,
Have your pcp scheudule an appointment with a sleep clinic, so you could talk to a specialist.  In the meantime, make sure your mask is not leaking, adjusted properly.

Good luck !
