MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, welcome to the forum, there are many causes of insomnia. But psychological factors play important role in sleep disorders. Treating the root cause should be first step.

For stress, one need a suggestion therapy and few medications to alleviate the anxiety. One need to talk freely with closed ones like family or friends. Go for morning walk and relaxation therapy will help.

The initial steps you need to take are sleep hygiene education, stimulus control, relaxation, sleep restriction, cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, phototherapy, and chronotherapy. These therapies can be prescribed by clinicians at any level but it can be better implemented by sleep specialist.

Medical therapy involves use of benzodiazepines, Nonbenzodiazepines, Melatonin agonist or Diphenhydramine against prescription for short duration.

I suggest you to consult physician/sleep specialist for further management. Take care and regards.

Depends on what the sleep disorder is. I too have sleep apnea, also have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. There are numerous others. A sleep study could help you know your options.
