Sleeping 3x3hours per day

by darthdeus, Oct 29, 2009 05:51AM
Hi, I've heard that it is a good way to increase your productivity to sleep 3x 3 hours per day, instead of sleeping 9 hours straight. But I'm wondering. Is is unhealthy to sleep the same amount of time, but in shorter periods? Do I have to sleep for say 5 hours to make it "count", or is 2-3 hours just enough?

Never heard of that, sound like a great plan for a night person or self employed.

Hi,
The National Sleep Foundation in the United States maintains that 7-9 hours of sleep for adult humans is optimal. This leads to alertness, memory, problem solving, and overall health. There is this study performed at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine which showed that cognitive performance declines with six or fewer hours of sleep.
