Something is wrong

Hi, I am a 28 year old female. For about six months I have been going to sleep just to wake up about an hour  later with the feeling of shaking and numbness in my upper body, mainly in my head. I wake with my hands or arms shaking, or like last night I woke up to my body arched and my head shakeing back and forth this was the worst attack I have ever had. It is an off and on experience. One night it happens and the other it don't. When it does happen it is usally three to four times  in a row. I go back to sleep and then it happens again and again. Finally after the 3rd or 4th time i go on and go to sleep for the night. The length of these things are very short 30 seconds at the most. The closest thing  I can discribe this to is like a sizsure but with the numbness in my brain like a stroke, but then this kinda feels like it could be a tremmor because a lot of the shaking is on the inside of my body besides just the one part that jerks and shakes on the outside and it does not shake too hard or strong. I know this because it never wakes my husband up when all this is happening. I have made myself a doctors appt. for Monday but does anybody have any help for me or could give me some ideas on what is going on with me until then. I don't know if this is relavant to what is going on but i also have hyperthyroid disorder.

Hi janaleamikel, how are you? Sorry to know that you are going through a hard time due to the sleep disturbance and the stress. I feel you might probably be having rythmic movement disorder and/or sleep paralysis due to the sleep deprivation. Hence it is better you consult a neurologist or a sleep specialist and get investigated. Try to relax and overcome your stress. Going to bed as early as possible and avoiding smoking, alcohol and excessive tea/coffee in evenings may help. Take care and share your thoughts.

you need to consult you GP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  They will need to send you to a neurologist for further testing.
