Tired but can't sleep

For a long time I have been having a perfect sleep schedule but lately its changed. I am not tired until 3-5 am, even when I try to put myself to sleep. Then when I am tired I close my eyes but they force themselves back open. Its gotten to the point where my eyelids hurt a bit and I have shadows under my eyes. My doctor says its simply a mix in my sleep schedule but I don't know anymore. What do I do?

If you are napping, that could be contributing. Most likely a stressor of some kind, but it doesnt have to be. I'd get a sleep consult for insomnia.
