Wake up seeing things???

I have, on SEVERAL occasions, woke up about an hour or so after I dose off (at night) to sleep and I think I see things.  Example:  I woke up one time swearing that there was a spider on the wall.  I woke up my husband and he said there was nothing there.  I feel like I'm totally awake, eyes open, speaking clearly, everything.  I just don't understand why this happens.  Sometimes when it begins, I tell him that it's not like before and I tell him that this time I really do see something.  So...I do realize what I'm doing at the time.  Then I go right back to sleep with no problems.  It's funny when it occurs because it's become a regular thing but I know this can't be normal.  Can someone please explain why this occurs?

If these visions are occurring right before or after sleep, they are very likely hypnagogic hallucinations, which is to say that they are dreams that are happening while you are awake. They are also called night terrors. It is very indicative of a sleep disorder. Try googling the Epworth Sleepiness Scale, take the short test (answering the questions for how you recently feel), and if you rate higher than 11, tell your primary care physician that you need to see a sleep doctor.

I have narcolepsy with cataplexy, a sleep disorder (but not the only one) that has hypnagogic hallucinations as one of its symptoms. I have sensed intruders in my bedroom as well as insects crawling on me. It can be extremely terrifying. It is for me, especially before I understood why it was happening.

What can I do to help you?

Hi, This is my first time seeing this site. As I have been reading you and I seem to have the same problem.
My nightterrors started about 30 years ago after my sister and I talked one night. She told me about a cousin and so on well we had all been sexually abused by the same man as children.
I have had more night terrors in the past four weeks, they come at least one hour after I go to bed and fall asleep.
I do not remember anything before I see a man and start screaming.......
Over the years it has mostly been a man, never the same man, different ages, heights, weight and so on. I can describe them perfectly but do not know who they are.
Lastnight the man was coming through the window or wall next to our bed.
He had on a blue jumpsuit, about 40, greyish brown hair and I remember telling my husband it is really happening..........
What is so hard is that I scared my poor husband to death....he tries to reassure me but they just haven't stopped.
I have seen the man or a man in my bed next to me, at the foot of the bed, in the corner of the room and the doorway. Before the men I did see spiders and bugs but now it is a man.
They never speak to me and they don't try to hurt me so why are they there?
What do they want? Why does this keep happening to me?
Thanks for listening....

I'm not a docter. but gigin, you see orbs? that souns like you are seeing through someone elses eyes. what i mean by this is, it is wicca, bt you each have a spirit that is always with you. dreams mean something i know they do, even i have reoccuring nightmares. Just focus on something good before you sleep, i watch what i do before i go to bed, for me its no tacos or watchin the movie shrek. what we do represents what we will dream about in a matter of speaking.watch what you eat and watch on the television, if you already tried this, i would consult a high priestess. or your "god"
