Waking up every 2 to 3 hours

Hi. I've been waking up every 2 to 3 hours after I went to bed lately. Even if I managed to get to sleep again I would woke up after the next 2 to 3 hours again.

I noticed that the problem occurred the day after I went out during noon exposed to the intense sun. I felt slight dizziness however nothing happened that night. I woke up quite early the next day and felt mild dizziness throughout the day and very dizzy at night. The dizziness has stopped after a few days but I've been waking up quite early since.

I do not know if it was causes by anxiety because I've been through several health worries lately including a new one that I posted in another part of the forum however I do not know if it is related as I've been having the sleep disorder 1 or 2 weeks before my current health worry.

Hi dasel, how are you doing now? Its good to hear you are slowly getting better day-by-day. I am sure you will get better a lot soon. Yes, do continue jogging and regular warm up stretches, slight back pain could be due to strain/sprain, apply a pain killer gel and local heat. As i said early, stress is main cause and you need to try to over come it by all means. It is good idea to take a short break from routine schedule and go on weekend vacation as change in place can be certainly refreshing. Continue your gastric medicines and avoid spicy food, tea/coffee and late night sleep. Take care and keep updating on your progress. Have a nice weekend, Take care.

Hi. I only jog every second day. The first day of the backache was somewhat painful however the next day was slight painful, I've went through the internet the first day to find a solution for my backache, what I got was by doing exercise. So I went to jog despite the slight pain during the second day and I did not feel any backache during the third day.

I still woke up every 2hours it seems, however it's much easier to resume sleep now after I went to see a third new doctor. The doctor did a ultrasound scan on few part of my body and it appear that I might have some gastric problem. He gave me two gastric med and a what I assume stomach relief med to I should take before bed. He also noticed that I seems to be under intense stress and told me I may need to take some times off work.

Hi dasel, how are you feeling today? Is your backache fully resolved now? Have you started back on doing daily morning jogging and regular stretches before you move on to your daily work schedule. Were you able to get good sleep yesterday? Please have patience for sometime till you see some benefits like at least a sound sleep of 6-7 hours at a stretch, a feel of high energy level and interest in your daily routine activities. Increase your liquid intake to 2 folds. Relaxation techniques will be beneficial on long term. You need to try hard to overcome the stress and new job challenges. Do follow up with your doctor regularly. Keep sharing your thoughts and doctor advice. Take care.

Hi dasel, how are you doing? Thanks again for your reply. It is great you could recover so soon from backache, i feel you need to try hard bed for sometime and do not sleep in same position throughout night and for long periods. Otherwise how is your sleep for whatever time you are able to sleep? Unless you have important work, try to go to sleep as early as possible. I know how difficult it is for one to manage time that too when you are going through a hard time, still your health should be your priority. Do warm up exercise before you start jogging and it is good to take warm shower once you come back. Alprazolam at night is beneficial. Take care and do post your comments.

Hi. I am surprised how fast the backache went away. I do not think that the backache was the reason that I woke up early last night. I only felt slight on and off backache yesterday. It seems like it is fully healed now.

I've always have a bad habit of sleeping late, it was much worst before. Most of the time I would go to bed around 1 to 2am but I've changed it to 11 and 12pm now.

I've only managed to sleep for 3hours today from 12 to 3am. I'm thinking of increasing the intensity of my jog tomorrow morning however I hope I would be able to sleep for an hour or two before that.

Hi dasel, How are you? How is your backache? Well, you need not feel bad because you did not have a sound and undisturbed sleep last night. One odd day could be nothing of much importance, you might have been little late to bed or some physical strain could be the reason. Do focus on relaxation, casual jogging if your backache is better and stretches regularly again if you are capable only, along with some kind of gentle massage to body before having a warm shower. Do read some interesting novel, or anything of your like and listen to soft music. You can do it over a period of time if not immediately, so don't lose your heart, I am sure you will be able to do it. Alprax at bedtime can be tried. Take care and post your thoughts.

Hi. I think I suffered from another set back again. It's currently around 2am at my place. I went to bed at 11 and woke up at 1am. I did a 20minutes light jog earlier today and warmth bath followed up hours before bed. I felt slight tired before I went to bed but when I woke up 2hours later I don't feel tired at all.

Hi dasel, how is your daily routine now a days? Are you able to get a day nap? Sometimes due to a hectic day you might feel exhausted or fatigued. Do your feel your sleep is disturbed at night? It should be ok, if you are able to manage a sound sleep of about 7-8 hours in night and at least 1-2 hours in day if possible. Do take plenty liquids in day time and avoid a bulky spicy meal at night and also coffee/tea before sleep. You can take multivitamins daily once for sometime or advised by your doctor on recheck visit. Take care.

Hi dasel, hope you are doing better now? I do understand how hard you are trying to do better, but it may take some time also. It is good that you are able to sleep at least few extra hours and should be able to do regularly. Try to go to bed as early as possible and continue a daily sleep routine, which will sure help you ahead. I do feel your low back might be due to stretches or faulty posture, if it is severe then try to do jogging or stretches for a day or two and then continue as usual, do at a slow pace initially and maintain it over sometime. Over the counter painkillers can relieve pain and you can also apply some of voveron gel and do hot fomentation. Consult your doctor for a recheck and update on your progress. Take care.

Hi. The day before yesterday I managed to sleep for 5hours so I decided to go for a light jog outdoor for 10~15minutes and warmth bath few hours before bed. I slept at 12, woke up at 5am and I managed to sleep for another 2hours which is a record however when I got out from bed, I discovered that I had back pain. I did some stretches before the light jog yesterday however I did not recall over doing. Do you recommend that I should continue light jog despite the back pain?

One last question, despite the 7hours sleep I still felt slight fatigue, was it causes by my  lack of sleep lately?

Hi, thanks for your reply and thoughts. I think you are undergoing stress for whatever reason so, this might be the reason for your sleep disturbance and you not having enough sleep at night might make you fatigue, feeling unrefreshed after waking up, no interest in your routine activities and daytime sleep attacks like nodding off at inappropriate or unexpected moments at school/workplace. This can be one of reasons why you do not feel like doing jogging as advised by your doctor. Added to all these, stress you are going through can be a trigger. Follow the advise given by your doctor and if not possible to do jogging, you may do warm up exercises and stretches at home itself, take lot of liquids which may make you feel more energetic and kick off your day. If possible also try to have a nap in daytime.  Post me your thoughts and take care.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I no longer feel the kind of dizziness that I got from before anymore however most of the time when I get dizzy now I guess it might involve in me not getting enough of sleep, at time I could only sleep for 3hours or 4hours and woke up unable to return to bed.

I've only got one nightmare lately other than that I've never had any dream as of late. I have consulted a doctor several days ago, he told I should start jogging regularly but with only 3 or 4hours of sleep daily, I could not see how this can be done. It would be great if you could suggest any light exercise that I could take.

He suggested that I should stop drinking carbonated drink, tea and coffee. I've not drink any of those for quite sometimes now. He also asked about my previous health record and I told him that I haven't been sick for quite a long time so he did not recommend me to take any sleeping medicines.

Hi Relax! You might have spent the whole day in sunlight and might not have had sufficient quantity of water, which might have caused mild dehydration and the dizziness. You may be stressed either physically or mentally, which can be causing the sleep disturbance. Do you get nightmare or terrifying dreams? Try to relax and concentrate more on your work and take plenty of liquids, regular exercise, warm bath and gentle body massage should give you a comforting sleep. Alprax at bedtime may be helpful. You may consult your doctor to get an evaluation. Please post your thoughts and update on your doctor's visit. Take care.
