Zolpidem (Ambien)

I recently had to switch my med doctor because of my age. I have really bad insomnia and have all my life. I'm usually okay once asleep but I cant fall asleep on my own. I was put on 100mg on seroquel but it was reduced overtime because it was causing me to sleep too much, uncontrollably. I now take 25mg at night. But it still takes around 3 hours after I take it before I fall asleep. Well the other day my new doctor put me on 10mg of Zolpidem to take at night with the seroquel....and I haven't yet. I am scared. I have read a lot of reviews about what it does and I dont think its worth it. Is anyone on Ambien, or been on it, or know any additional information about it? If so please do tell. Thank you!

Apologies I have been spoken too, I was asked the risk factors because was to scared do it - I said it's safe with just those meds but alcohol changes the game, looking back in hindsight I should  considered a figure, with the booze they make their decions but in reality I sparked.....really sorry again
Next time anyone asks me, be it in person, phone or the web/social media - feedback is to be important and drinking alcohol with this drug can and has caused situations etc

I didn't read carefully and don't know all the patent med names, other than Ambien which I know and have some generic form in my cabinet.

Trazadone is often an effective aid in sleeping, yes it is prescribed as an anti-depressant, but it is also an aid in getting to sleep if taken before bedtime. I take 50 mg, not sure it helps a lot.. my problem is staying asleep.. driven awake by unpleasant dreaming, need to urinate (old guy) and nasal congestion: dry mouth and suffocation.  Yes, I've undergone a sleep study and no serious obstructive sleep apnea problems if I keep my weight down from my max.  Not real obese, but just 25 pounds over my okay weight and I have OSA problems. Guess fat in my throat is one of the places it accums.

You've come to the right place and by not taking the serequel of fear, it's quite easy and all it's doing is building the levels needed in your system;  - these levels are the groggy/uneasy in the start/ feel sleep when wake takes A while (they have me  on 300 spread in time and it's amazing?!? How many u ghave yomg during the day 600mg. See Serequel is not a traditional bi polar targeted method, I found Serequel gave me the best leftovers in my life goodbye is easy Cab you devulg what sharing is great

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. You could slowly try to wean yourself of the medication. In the meantime, follow good sleep hygiene measures like going to bed at the same time, waking up at the same time, avoidance of alcohol, smoking and caffeinated beverages. Maintain warm, comfortable bedroom environment and engage in relaxing activities like a warm bath before bed time. This will promote sleep.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I have been on Ambien for 4 years now and have been through HELL and still trying to get out of it. Its not that it is really addictive (because I will take anything if it helps me sleep) but it becomes very habit forming especially to those of us who have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep.I tried Seroquel but it didn't work well for me. Very few things work on me because not only do I have the insomnia (have had since I was little) but I put it in my head that things don't work. I can tell you that I do not recommend Ambien especially to someone with severe insomnia because I never had any type of addiction issue before it but now I will take more then I am supposed to just to sleep because you build a tolerence. If Seroquel works at such a low dose for you I would stay on it! I hope that helps some.

Hello,

Ambien is a medication that is used to treat insomnia, more so in people who have problems with initiating sleep. It is likely to cause drowsiness, dizziness, headaches and sometimes diarrhea as side effects. It should not be used with other sedatives as this is likely to cause depressant effect on the central nervous system and respiration. Warm regards.
