awake but asleep

by sephto, Sep 30, 2009 06:26PM
so once in a while i will wake up but i will not really be awake because i cant move my body but i am conscious and still dreaming only i know i am dreaming and usually il close my eyes in my dream count to 3 and force my self to wake up then go back to sleep. today as this was happening i felt a jolt to my head and i felt it all the way down to my chest as if something was trying to wake me up. so i forced my self to wake up thought it was a little weird and went back to sleep again and i felt the jolt again this time like 3 times before i forced my self to wake up again. at this point i changed positions thinking maybe i am sleeping wrong and it happened again but this time i started asking my self questions like what is going on and i hear a hello in my head and i go who is this and it said something along the lines of Adrian but i couldn't understand to well. (keep in mind im not crazy i was just half asleep and willing to do anything to go back to sleep) then in my half dream half conciouse i look and i see a person in front of me so i force my self to wake up again thinking its my brother messing with me look around and there was no one there. so i turn around and went to sleep backwards in i just fell asleep....

i slept for 16 that night because i had just pulled an all nigher in college for a test if that could be part of it.

Sounds like sleep paralysis with hypnopompic hallucinations (intense dream/hallucination occuring while waking up, can include all senses or just some).

It could be something that happened as a result of stress and the all-nighter you pulled.  Monitor yourself and your sleep patterns in case there is an ongoing problem, in which case see your doctor.
