Hi, your symptoms are suggestive of dream anxiety disorder, which is a sleep disorder characterized by frequent vivid dreams. It usually occurs during the second half of the sleeping process, called the REM stage. It can be associated with disordered breathing.

It can occur normally in persons but in this disorder it occurs at higher frequency. The past event has a left an impact in your mind and hence there is persistent sense of insecurity in your sub conscious mind.

This disorder can be managed by self by alleviating the home and personal life related stress particularly before going to bed.  A regular fitness routine, Yoga and meditation can also help to eliminate stress and create a more peaceful sleeping atmosphere and provides a relaxed state of mind. Psychotherapy can also help you to learn how to cope and deal with the various stressors in your life.

You can not change your past so you should tell your mind to stop thinking. If you are thinking and dreaming you will not have proper sleep and may result in insomnia. You can share your feelings with some one close and avoid thinking.

Do not worry, follow the above mentioned methods and the symptoms will alleviate soon. I suggest you to consult psychiatrist. Take care and regards.

Have you talked to your doctor about this? Without much detail it's anybody's guess, but if you are affected by daytime symptoms such feeling that your sleep isn't restorative, evaluation by a sleep doctor might be recommended to see exactly what's happening while you sleep. Are you on any meds that could possibly be related?

Insufficient or poor quality sleep that leads to chronic sleep deprivation can skew dreaming. As my sleep deprivation worsened, so did my my dreaming as I was going to sleep. Still do it, but it is less glaringly odd to me now. If a study reveals one to be sleeping well at night with no sleep issues needing treatment, yet they still feel sleepy during the day and report other symptoms of concern, evaluation for narcolepsy might be recommended, but without classic overt symptoms, it's a process of elimination.

Please do talk to your doctor about your concerns.
