seizure upon waking

by yuey, Oct 17, 2006 12:00AM
Recently ive had what seems like a seizure upon wakening.
At the moment of wakening it seems that im still at a very low level conciousness and as i try to move any of my muscles it triggers a huge sensation of vibration at the centre back of my brain which renders me from moving. It seems the more i try to fight it the stronger the vibrations.Im still very aware of and can hear my surroundings.I relax myself as much as possible and after several minutes in this state i try to pop my eyes open. Sometimes using this method i just gain full conciousness and mobitlity as if id just wken normally. Sometimes this just puts me back into the seizure state and i just repeat my procedure until ive fully "woken". My concern this time is that after the last seizure last night i can still feel the slight but light vibrations at the back of my head. Does this mean my time might be up.
It would be sad not to wake permanently and have to conciously listen to loved one knowing i cant talk back but fully aware of what i can hear.
Has anyone had similar experience or know of any direction of medical help

Yuey, you really need to see a neuro.  you can start with your family doc, though.

I don't have the vibration you described, however, have had "sleep paralysis"-I couldn't speak, open my eyes, or move in any way. I could hear.

A nerve that is irritated can cause what you described last.
like "shocks" that don't really hurt, if it's like mine. I take neurontin- not for seizures, but for nerve pain, and it helps.

sleep paralysis is not life-threating, I am told.
don't worry, but do see the doctor.

you're not going to believe this, but i have the same thing.  i've been trying to figure out what it is, only happens every once and a while.  first time it happened, i was very sick with a fever.  i'd go to the doctor but i've got a huge deductable.  did you figure out what it was?

This should not be a scary experience although sometimes when you do not know what is happening it can be. I have always done this. It is called astral travel. It happens to people who are more in tune or who have a lineage of those more in tune with the spiritual world. Your soul is not a part of your body but more inside your body. Sometime during sleep it leaves but is never unattached. There are so many things in this world that people do not understand and one of them is that we are such a small part of this large universe. We are all souls and we do not die. We inhabit these crapy bodies to do our duties on earth. We sleep to rejuvinate our souls! Sometimes after traumitizing times on earth our souls may leave our bodies to visit certain healing places which we are lead to by our spirit guides...God gave all of us atleast one, however we have many angels. We also may choose, in our sleep ofcourse, to visit past loved ones or even drop in on others! They can not see us though as we are there in spirit. The alarming paralyzing fear happens when we our physical body starts to awaken before our spirit is back in form inside. We are awake but cant move, we hear and feel buzzing, we feel as if we are being held down by an evil force who wants to eat our unborn children.....No.  Does this not all pass? Yes, because quickly, faster than you realize you have returned to your body and can now move again.  I know how scary this is as I used to have the same thing. Also, the buzzing in your body is the healing....notice the one chic said it happened when she was sick with a fever!! Google it, "Astral Travel". Now before I go to sleep I say that I only want to leave if I can have a quick return. You can never be lost or not find your way back. We are intricate spirits and way to smart to "get lost". I always ask before I go to bed to have healed whatever damage may have been done during the day in this wonderful world, sarcasm here, to be healed while I am asleep or off visiting the spirit world. Some people can even remember vividly hovering above their bodies or being on the celing to then flying out of the window and into mountains.  I like to think of it as a nice little escape! Have fun!

this is an old post, but i've experienced this before. i just woke up from having a lucid dream (i was jumping and touching the ceiling over and over) and it happened again. whenever it happens to me, it feels like i'm trying hard to wake up but i also want to go back to sleep. and then i feel electrical shocks and vibrations throughout my whole body and i can't control it. the only thing that can control it is if i use all of my energy to wake up and then stand up to really get out of that cycle/state. there was one time this happened where i actually saw myself start to float up towards the ceiling and i didn't know where i was going (i knew i was going somewhere good, but unfamiliar!) so i tried with all my might to stay "in my mind" and "in my body". i was fully aware that if i relaxed and concentrated on staying put, i would not go anywhere. it really felt like i was a magnet, and the force pulling me was a magnet it was very difficult to stay in my body (imagine pulling two magnets apart). i couldn't go back to sleep because i didn't want it to happen again, but as i started falling back to sleep, i began experiencing the trembling and the shocks. i woke up several times until i got tired of it and eventually i just got to a state where i didn't care and finally went to sleep. i did some research on out-of-body experiences around that time, and the trembling is one of the symptoms you experience when that is happening. it almost feels like your soul is shaking out of your heavy body. anyway, all of this depends on your beliefs, and of course, you don't want your beliefs to give you reasons to not see a medical professional. i will probably see a neurologist and go to a sleep lab about this because it can be very bothersome and... something could be wrong! :) take care!
