tremors during sleep

I experience tremors during sleep which feel like a purring or vibrating sensation. They don't hurt and, honestly feel like my Tempurpedic massage feature had turned itself on! Have had complete cardiac workup including Holter monitor which showed I have no heart issues.   Finally, saw a neurologist who shrugged and gave me pills (clonazepam) to hide the symptoms.  All he would say is it's probably familial. Have asked every doctor and nurse I come into contact with about these symptoms and no one has ever heard of anything like this. I don't like not knowing what the heck this is!  I do have a son with myoclonus sleep disorder and a daughter with MS.  I have stopped taking the pills and wonder if I need to seek a second more involved neurologist.  Has anyone else had these symptoms?  Surely, I can't be the only person in the world!

Not a problem! My 20 month old daughter has intractable epilepsy (seizures that do not respond to anti epileptic medications). She started having seizures when she was 9 months old.
Throughout this journey I have learned all about different types of epilepsy and know that seizures can present themselves in any form at any age.
The only way to know for sure if what you are experiencing IS seizures is to have a vEEG. That requires hospital admission for a few days.
Talk to your sons neurologist about what you are going through. Perhaps they can offer some insight.
Also, keep a journal of your experiences including date/time and what you felt.
Maybe their is a pattern?
Also, try not to stress yourself out about it. Stressing about it can sometimes make them worse.
Good luck to you and your son!!!!

Thanks for your reply.  My son did see a neurologist and has no seizures associated with his myoclonus.  The doctor said he would outgrow it! He will be 30 this month and still twitches on and off all night long.  His movements are visible. My weird stuff may very well be related even though they only started a year ago when I was 62!
Thanks again.
