6 weeks today! Yay!!!!

by teko, Oct 16, 2009 07:25PM
Six weeks ago, I did not think I would be able to do it. I was fearful at the very thought of trying to get off cold turkey. Now six weeks later, I rarely have an urge and when I do, I just look at it as my body in the healing process and I mentally pictur my lungs pink and healthy!  I have gained a few pounds, but seem tohave leveled off now and have actually noticed I am starting to lose weight.  I am still careful with the caffeine, and I am sleeping more and more hours at night without waking. I have actually had a few lately where I slept all night. Anxiety is being controlled for the most part by B-12, (Thanks Jade!)  I do have one problem tho. My husband is not a heavy smoker at all, probably 3-5 a day.  But when he comes in the door after smoking, it gags me!  Yep, it gags me!  Ew!  And to think I caused others to get that feeling around me!  I am utterly HORRIFIED!

Congratulations Teko!  This is great!  You know, I think when we have a few failed quits behind us we should not think of it as "failure" but a learning experience and how to make the next quit work permanently.  This has been true for me, anyway.  My two quits prior to this really prepared me for what to expect and how to manage the w/d's and cravings.  I am right behind you at 32days and like you I have hardly any urges and when I do, I am better able to tell myself it is temporary and BELIEVE it!

I am finding the B-12 to be working well too.  We can both thank my mom for it as she is the one to turn me on to it :)  I still feel anxious, but only because alot is going on, but I really don't feel like smoking much at all and I have been constantly amazed at that.  My sleep is much better as well.

I know what you mean about smelling smoke.  I don't think I could handle it if my husband smoked, not because it would make ME want to smoke, but because the smell is so gross.

You're doing awesome.  Yay for you BIG TIME!!!!   Hey, how are the hot flashes?  Mine have much improved :)

wow, congrats to you! See how practice makes perfect! I hear the resolve in your words : )

I know what you mean about being around a smoker. It is so disgusting and I can't believe that I was one of those people too! My husband quit long before me and he would complain whenever I came in from the outdoors after a smoke......but it does cling to the clothes and hair, yuk.

WTG teko!
