8th day of quit!!

Hello everyone - just wanted to update you all.  Today is my 8th day of non smoking!  I've had a couple of trying moments due to some personal issues, and I have been stressed but I know that having a cigarette will not change my situation.  I seem to be doing ok with combination therapy ie patches and lozenges & LOTS of willpower!  I have to say though, I feel EMPOWERED - If I can do this, I can do anything!  I have set myself small milestones and feel so happy that I have been able to meet all of them.  I also don't worry about tommorrow or the day after - all I concern myself with is not smoking today - this mindset has made it easier for me to quit.  One day at a time!

I have found though that my energy levels are not any better since quitting and I guess that it will take some time for me to notice a difference (thought I'd be able to 'spring' out of bed by now :-))!.   My main concern is that I still suffer from breathlessness.  I would have thought that after a couple of days, I would be ok but it doesn't seem to be the case.  Again, I assume that it may take some time for my breathing to improve again.  I'm too scared to say anything to my doctor as he will want me to have a lung xray and I'm terrified of what the outcome will be.  I guess it's something that I cannot handle at this point in time with everything else that's going on in my life.

So that's all for now.  I hope that you are all well!  xx

I have been quit for 1 Week, 1 Day, 16 hours, 14 minutes and 17 seconds (8 days). I have saved $121.46 by not smoking 173 cigarettes. I have saved 14 hours and 25 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 30/03/2009 1:53 AM

Hi Angelina and congrats on day 9!!!

I am feelin' the energy right through the screen!!!!

I imagine if you're feeling breathless, you may not be getting enough oxygen which in turn, would zap your energy.  Make sense?  With my first quit, I could breathe through my mouth, which told me my lungs were fine, but I couldn't get enough breath just breathing through my nose.  It was weird, but it did clear up eventually.

I'm sooo happy for you!  Stay strong!  You're doing just awesome!!

Congrats!!! Woohoo!
It's a great feeling....being in control of your destiny, and your determination shows : )

Now remember that I smoked for 38 years, so this will probably not apply to you, but I was sick the first 4 months of my quit. sinus infections, bronchitis, pleurisy! It turned around after that and I now I breathe without struggling and spring (or what passes for that at 53 ; ) out of bed and I feel as good as, or even better then I did in my 20's!!

I'm sure that you will start feeling better very soon, so just hang in there and keep the positivity!!
Congrats to you and have a wonderful, smoke-free day : )
