Blood tests and small amount of smoking

I smoke 2 or 3 cigarettes per day (not packs, individual cigarettes).  For the first time, my health insurance require a blood test to determine if you're a smoker.  Test date is a little less than a week away --- I didn't see this coming.

Will my blood test be positive for smoking?  If so, is there anything I can do about it now -- will lots of liquid help, etc.?

PS I'm 48 yrs old, did not smoke until 47, largest amount of smoking on one day was a bit less than half a pack; that was weeks ago

Its my understanding that nicotine stays in the system for 72 hours.  That's what most of the quit/cessation sites say.

Some of them said that nicotine stays in your organism 1-2 days after smoking. I don`t know if this is true information. It must be depending on how much you are smoking, I guess. Try not to smoke. It`s the best thing I can say to you... and good luck...

P.S. Try this water thing. You’ve got nothing to lose. I know nicotine is oil liquid and can be mixed with water in it`s basic form. But I`m not good at chemistry so I can`t be sure...

I'm not trying to cheat the test, but is there anything I can do to speed up the process?  I believe I read somewhere that drinking a whole lot of water can get it out of your system.  True?

It's hard to say.  There are several tests available of varyihng degrees of sensitivity. The chances are it will.
