Well there is another issue with vaping.  Vaping chemicals like vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol actually pull on water molecules.  So they absorb water and moisture.  It pulls water out of the air, but it also pulls water and moisture from your mouth, lungs, and any place it comes in contact with.  So you may be dehydrated as well.  Generally staying hydrated will help this when vaping.

But I cannot stress the e-cigs and infection issue.  I am reading reports of lots of people across the internet who ended up getting very serious infections because of their vaping.  Is vaping the better option to actually smoking??? To that I say yes AND no.

Yes it is far less harmful IF you do it the right way and make sure 2 critical things:
1. Keep yourself well hydrated when vaping.
2. DO NOT get tempted to just 'vape' whereever you go.  This is the habit that vapers are getting serious infections from.  Would you eat without washing your hands?  Probably not.  For example if you walked through a hospital and you were vaping the whole time.  Yikes you can risk getting some SERIOUS SERIOUS infections.  So this is the most IMPORTANT thing about vaping safety, it is learning good vaping hygeine.  Generally you want to change your mouth peices regularly and disinfect them.  Also you want to vape in a place where you are comfortable to do so like your own home.  Wash your hands before you vape!  I am saying this because I caught some SERIOUS infection from vaping and have been on antibiotics for 5 months now!  My downfall is that I was not vaping cleanly and some nasty disesase causing germs got on my fingers and eventually onto the vape mouth peice.  I have gotten better but this was a tragic mistake.

So overall vaping is probably the safer alternative to smoking, with the EXCEPTION of catching a serious infection which makes vaping WORSE.  At least with cigarettes you get a new fresh smoke with a clean mouth peice every time and the smoke is more likely to oxidize some bacteria anyways, also it is higher heat.  Smoking is less likely to spread an infection.  But of course it may happen if people don't wash their hands again.

You have to treat it like eating, wash your hands before vaping, also if you use a rechargeable device make sure to clean or change the mouthpiece.  Make sure your vape device is clean before using it and don't vape if you collected germs on your hands.  Really that is the issue, you might want to clear your infection whatever it might be before vaping again.

I think you caught an infection from vaping.  We have to be careful and treat vaping like we are eating.  If we just  vape wherever we go we collect germs and end up getting them in our mouths and breathing them in.  It happened to me and I got a very serious infection.  Vaping isn't really the hazard, it is catching a bacterial infection by vaping in public or in your car or wherever you go that is the issue.
