First Opiates, now these devils!!

33 days ago I quit a year-long opiate-pill addiction. That was tough. A week of hell. All better now and know how the opiates work, so never again.
Now on to the cigarettes! I had my first cigarette at 8 years of age( well a few drags-inhaled), and remember to this day the buzz. Started smoking in earnest at 13 1/2 years of age. Now 43. Well today, on the way to work, I stopped at the convenience store to buy a couple packs of smokes. Well, I bought an electronic cigarette instead, and called the 1-800-QUIT-NOW line.
Why? My wife quit smoking almost 2 years ago, though she does use an electronic cigarette, and I want to keep my health. I have no idea why I have smoked for so long, guess just a habit. I want to be able to breathe better, and not stink. I want to really taste food. I dont want a heart attack or stroke.
I want to quit spending $300-$400 a month to kill myself.

Wow, you've got a lot going on all at once. Congrats on kicking the opiates, I too kicked in January of 2010' and the cigarettes went on December 1st 2011'.
I heard the e cigarettes are helpful in getting people to stop. I used Chantix for 2 months and quit that way. It was expensive but nowhere near what I used to spend on cigs and oxy's.
