What quit smoking techniques have you already tried?
All I know of is using nicotine gum (to ease the craving for nicotine) and elastic band snapping against your wrist (to distract and help replace the habit of handling cigarettes). To help alleviate the nervous tension you're likely contending with you could carry something calming (such as: a puzzle book, some knitting project or whatever you find helpful that lets you ride out an urge).
I do know it's much easier to change habits than to drop one.
