Another tip for good digestion is to chew each bite well...up to 20times.  Yes, it makes the meal last seemingly forever, but the more saliva mixed in with your food, the better your digestion will be.  Before ulcers, I gulped my food to get it over with, but after, I had no choice and had to learn to eat slowly and it really does work as far as keeping me somewhat regular on top of the meds...which I know is some of your issue as well.  Just ate two tangerines then the Senna tonight so fingers crossed!...for both of us!

Yeah, this part totally sux!  I use the generic of Senocot which is a laxative plus stool softener.  Normally it works well...if I take it that is.  It was suddenly today I realized the quit was affecting me.  As far as fruit goes Opus, I haven't tried this yet, but usually citrus fruit like tangerines will help...normally, that is.  I've got some in the fridge and will eat a couple for lunch.  Apples are good for this too, I think.

And the anxiety, shakes and cravings hit me today but I think it has to do with being backed up as I've felt this in the past when constipated.

Man, Good Luck, Opus!!! :(

Forgot to mention the Constipation.  Hate this part a LOT.  There is a thread on this forum about smoking ONE cigarette a day to ward off that issue and I can see why someone might do that.  Not ME though! lol

SG...thanks for your support...again. lol

Opus....wonderful to hear you're doing so well!  Excellent! Proud of you!

I'm feeling a tiny bit depressed this morning, but otherwise, doing well also.  Needing the inhaler when I wake up due to wheezing, but that's getting better already.  Still taking the Musinex too.  It keeps the phlegm thin and coming up.  Not many cravings at all thankfully.  It's almost like that whole year of smoking never happened.  Weird.

I have to work on keeping my Guard Up better, especially as the months go on.  Because I feel euphoric right now with all the extra oxygen, it's easy to forget the hard part begins when new stress comes along.

Deep Breathe everyone!  Feels good no matter what! :)

DAY #5....although for some reason my tracker only shows day #4....I think as Jade suggested it only updates itself later in the eve.....aww technology.

Anyway just to update, Its going okay...probably better than expected thus far!!
cravings sure...but not unmanageable, trying to keep the munchies to a minimum. No anxiety attacks yet. sleeping better, not coughing up that disgusting phlegm.

keep breathing!!

You all have my warmest wishes for reaching your smoke-free goals.

@Opus...I would be using the patches ...think weaning is gentler on the body.  Hope they help.

@Jade...I like the tips ...need to supplement patch if using with practical help.

Love to you all...

How was your day yesterday, Opus?

OMG, I feel so much RELIEF not going thru' that whole event to smoke!  The mental is hard when I wake up, but otherwise, I feel 100% better physically. Gotta take care of the pot at night next.  So done with that too, just not ready for the full on insomnia.

Off to the Dr to take a look at this toe issue that's been going on a full Year.  I cannot assess new shoes with this toe such a mess.  Leaving in a few, so will talk with you this afternoon.

Sending you Love and Strength!!!

Amazing the improvement in so little time.  My cough is gone entirely which is why I am helping it along with the expectorant.  I don't want this black/brown speckled phlegm just sitting in my lungs.

Oh yay, lunch with the girls.  I know how much you were hoping to get together with your g.d (and dd, of course).  Were you still smoking while driving?  That's a big deal to give up...which is why I never reinstated the habit after quitting 6yrs ago.

I hope you have a great day, Opus!  Be careful driving...♥

How are you doing this morning?  48hrs for me.  I reset my tracker date yesterday, but it still shows my old reading, idk why.  I am already a daily reader of the SA forum, and find the the inspiring words of the clean members work just as well for a smoking quit as any other quit.  I am trying to get excited about this, but depressed to begin with and feel like crap if you want to know the truth.  Doing it though!

The expectorant and inhaler are working well as far as keeping my chest open.  Force the coughing if it's not happening on it's own.  Anxiety and tension rough, but to be expected.  Hate I did this to myself again!  We HAVE to do this Opus, we can't breathe anymore.

Hang in there honey...xo

I'm like Brina, I had abt 5 left in my pack so finished them last night....today 000000. but its not cold turkey b/c I MUST wear a patch otherwise I couldn't begin to do this, I will wean off that as time goes...but for now it is my life line.
I am thinking of a cigarette every single minute, I KNOW soon it will only be every 2nd minute and so on....but for now all I want to do is roll up in bed.

Hi Opus, here I am.  I'm now quit 24hrs as of this morning, how are you doing????  Woke up in a sweat at 3am, and had to change jammies, so the withdrawal has begun, but feel better overall already.  I'm going back to bed after this post as I only got 3hrs sleep last night, but I'll be back later.

A tip...Keep Breathing!  Our chest feels tight and heavy when we quit because we are used to taking that big inhale all day long.  Take that away suddenly, and you're left with all that tar sitting in your lungs infecting them with nowhere to go.  An expectorant helps to keep the mucus thin and moving.  You can't help but cough when taking it.  Chest felt tight this morning upon awakening, but some deep breathing exercises along with an OTC chest expectorant (taking Musinex - know you don't have that in Canada, but ANY chest expectorant will do).  Or simply make yourself cough when you think of it.  I've got my oven timer set to remind me to deep breathe every hour.  Of course I try to remember myself, but this is an extra reminder. :)

Good Luck, Opus.

Great to see you joining us, Brina. Do you see the Addiction trackers offered here?  Get one set up; it helps to be accountable to yourself and to watch your daily progress.  Also, go to whyquit ******* for some serious education.  That site has been a huge help to most of us here.  You can join there too, but you have to be quit cold turkey for 72hrs.  Hang in there, Brina and Good Luck!! :)

Well, today is my day.  I had a cigarette when I woke up this morning and it made me feel awful...I can't do it anymore.  I am done!  I was supposed to quit yesterday, but found myself having smoked about 6 cigs before the day was over.  This is truly it.  Good luck to you opus 88.
