chest discomfort

by kater64, Mar 24, 2008 03:40PM
I recently quit smoking and haven't had a cigarette in 2 1/2 weeks.  I previously had smoked around a pack/day for nearly 15 years.  Everything has been going well and I am starting to feel better.  There has been one concern though and that is a strange sensation that I have had in my throat and chest.  The past week I have had almost a raw feeling in my chest as if i had smoked way too many cigarettes the day before or am getting some sort of chest cold.  It also seems that this feeling gets more intense every day.  Is this just my body recovering from smoking or should I be concerned?

Congrats!
It very well could be your body starting to recover from your quit. If you look back through the many posts you will see that no one seems to have the same experience. I think that it may be your cilia which is repairing itself. If you don't start feeling any better then I would make an appointment to see your doctor. You might want to do this anyway, just in case you are getting a chest cold.
Good luck and keep us posted.
