Congrats on your 1 month!
The truth of the matter is this, if you want to quit, you will quit, regardless of the aids. The Commit Lozenge and the Nicorette Gum are addictions in themselves, so technically what you are doing is just trading addictions. You need to stop the Commit and you need to educate yourself about the evils of smoking and why you should quit and stay quit.
Go to whyquitdotcom and look through the "Motivation" stories, read the "Education" articles and ask your mom to go outside to smoke. It's very difficult when you have someone who stinks up the house and smells nasty. As for your co-worker....you are always going to have temptations and there will always be times when you really crave a smoke, but you really have to fight the urges, they don't last long, and the stronger your mind and body get, the less likely you will be to relapse.
Come here as often as you like and we will always support you and your quit : )
The reason why I kept using commit is b/c I was not confident that I could not smoke w/o them especially when a coworker was returnig from leave and we support each others habit. Which I relapsed, but got back on the wagon. I also live w/my mom who is a smoker. I relapsed after 12 wks and have been smoke free for about 1 month, but that's w/commit. I'm scared to go at it w/o something. Should I have something on hand for emergencies or just try to stick it through cravings and avoid triggers? I guess it's just a nice security blanket. I don't know. Any suggestions on what to do.
I used it briefly and when going to a scheduled dental appointment my dentist freaked on me! He told me to stop them immediately! The roof of my mouth was ulcerated as were the sides of my mouth.
You should stop them immediately.
Try going to whyquit.com and reading the articles there. If you are seroiusly trying to quit, those articles can be a great help. We are also a great source of support here.
Good luck!
Since November? Oh dear, this isn't good. And yes, your gums are irritated from the extended use.
I would like to encourage you to stop the lozenge NOW!
