throat/speaking

Currently cannot speak above a whisper, plus husband says that I am coughing constantly, seems like my throat is too small, and choke quite easily even on fluids.

anumber of years ago i was struck on the neck and shoulders by an 800pd ceiling gate, it did extensive damage, one of the things i suffered was damaged vocal cords, spent nearly a year learning to speak again, seems like i remember that they wanted to take body fat and fill in/around cords, don't remember my doing it, but i have been better for several years now here we go again, what is it and why?????????is it part of the old problem, or something new like cancer, my girlfriend had very similiar symptoms, and it took too long to diagnosis, what do you think???Gabbi

Hi,

I'd make an appt at a good ENT and let them scope you during that appt.  It could be a number of things and may be inflammation in some way.  Scar tissue -- wonder if that may be a factor.  I am not a doc .. just a patient and actually a thyroid patient who had surgery so unfortunately have been in touch on thyroid with many members who had paralyzed vocal cords from surgery.  So sorry this is happening ...pls. let us know how you are doing.

I hope you have been seen by an ENT and hopefully a speech language pathologist as well by the time I am posting this. There is definitely something going on and it needs to be figured out so you can be treated!

Hope all is well now, or better since you first posted in August.
