Here's the scoop...
22 month old son, sacral dimples, chronic constipation, bladder instability.
Tests: MRI tethered cord inconclusive, suspect occult tethered cord.
Bunny trail after MRI: found cystic teratoma. Surgery: benign teratoma attached to tailbone and rectal wall. Removed teratoma, tip of tailbone and was able to keep rectal wall intact.
Ultrasound & Urodynamics with bladder instability diagnosis.
Meds: Miralax for constipation, Oxybutnin for bladder instability.
Next step: consult with Dr. Puccioni, Omaha. It's my understanding we'll be discussing surgery for occult tethered cord.
If you are still with me after reading all that...
What do I ask? I've read up on occult tethered cord. I need to be my son's advocate and feel like I'm going to fall short, unless I have a better feel for what I should be asking.
Thank you, in advance, for letting me pick your brains and taking time to answer.
Hi...U may want to join over in the Chiari forum where others also have this condition....I had the sacral dimple at birth and a umbilical cord hernia and nothing was done, nothing was ever told to me until as an adult I went to Drs and found out I had tethered cord....I have yet to have surgery for it, but did so for chiari....
See a Chiari specialist as they r well experienced with all chiari related conditions and TC is one of them.
