can't pee

I got surgery 5 days ago. I had a large tumor removed on my lumbar back and I am not able to pee or poop on my own since before surgery. I will not be able to go home until I pee & poop on my own & I'm so frustrated :( I have a 1 yr old at home and I miss him so much. Being hospitalized makes me feel so depressed. I need advice on what I can do to pee. My peeing parts feel like they are still under anesthesia. Just my muscles. I'm in a rush to go home someone help me. I've tried so many things now and all my nurses & Drs do is cath me and I hate that feeling!!!!

Hi and welcome to the Spinal Cord C/D forum.

I never had this issue, but if it were me, I would try to do kegles....I know u said u do not have a lot of feeling, but u must have some to dislike the foley cath.....

I would imagine u t taking in a lot of fluids....this may help flush out the meds making u numb,....

I am not a medical professional  but that is what I would try.

Good luck and do let us know how u r doing <3

I am so sorry, I know it is hard...have u tried just sitting on the toilet and pouring some cold water over u? the more they use the cath the weaker ur muscles will become....

Keep on trying to do the kegels as they  will help with that muscle and mayb help with the numbness....

Good luck
