stomach distension

I have recently been gaining weight like crazy, I first thought maybe because of my thryoid surgery, I had it removed. The bad thing is, I have gotten this huge roll on the top part of my belly and it feels hard compared to the lower roll. I really have no symptoms other then tired and getting short of breath, I figured it was due to the weight gain. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do or where to start?
