Alcohol helping me focus?

I have a question about drinking alcohol. I am currently heading into third year as a sciences student at a top University in my country. I find that after I drink a beer or two, I am able to focus better on certain things. For example, at a party when my friends were playing video games, I found that before drinking my mind became tense and I could not understand the game as a whole. After having a beer I started to become more curious about the game and actually started reading text on the screen with comprehension. I was also quicker to respond to people's questions and was just generally more socially adept. Is it possible that I am too tense when sober (ie. too much is going on in my mind, and my brain is overloading with information that I cannot focus on the surrounding environment), or is this just psychological? Thanks!

It may be that the alcohol eases your mind. So yes you may just have a lot going on in your head that causes you not be able to concentrate as well. This isn't really a good habit to get into when you want to concentrate but there is nothing wrong with having fun every now & then.
