Painful spots on scalp and tenderness

Whenever I get stressed, my scalp gets hot, tender, painful and only goes away when I relax or go to sleep.
What is causing this? I also suffer from anxiety and migraines. :-(

I told my doctor about it, she checked my scalp and told me to do ice packs. But I want to know if there is anything serious?
