effecor-weight loss

by bosnianworrier, Jan 11, 2009 09:26PM
I have been on effexor sr and it caused a lot of weight gain.

Now, can extreme anxiety, stress, excesive smoking and low apetite cause weight LOSS despite effexor causing weight gain?

You mention that Effexor XR caused weight gain -- that is not my experience.  Many other Psych meds lead to my 40 lb increase, but Effexor XR would not be on my blame list.  Your second question -- can stress, anxiety, smoking and low appetite cause weight loss -- ABSOLUTELY!  That combination can cause a whole lot more than that too!  Please, see your doctor and discuss this with him/her.  For someone on Effexor XR, that combo is not a safe one. Maybee meds for the anxiety and stress might be in order.  Be careful and take care of yourself.
