86 yr old mom had severe Ishemic stroke- recovery?

Day 27.
She had 3 blood lots on both sides of her brain.
She is not paralyzed but cannot walk.
Currently on gastric tube as she cannot swallow or talk.
We try to engage her with a game matching shapes and pushing them into a bucket below, ipad children's puzzles (30% success maybe)etc. these engage her as does  drawing (lines over and over mostly) but She has surprised us by writing a few things:  her name, her sister's name. "He has his ideas." (No idea what this might mean.) she recognizes us but cannot talk, seems distant most of the time. She is in diapers and had to return to hospital after being in a 24 hour skilled nursing rehab in SF Bay Area ( are they all so awful?)
Any helpful words and words about skilled nursing in this area if you happen to know that?
