Brain bleed vs. ear infection



How can one tell the difference between a brain bleed and an ear infection?  What are the signs for a catscan?  My ear hurts and what clues should doctors use to do a catscan vs sending a patient home on ear infection medicine?  thanks.

thank you for your answer.  However if your MD claims it is an ear infection and you don't know about catscans, what is the givaway for your MD to be more proactive?  Is there a specific factor which defines an ear infection vs. sometime more serious?
