Carotid Artery Risk

I had a stroke in April of last year. I lost my eye sight and it is no longer looking as if that will ever come back.
I found out that my carotid artery is 100% occluded and there  is noting that the doctors are and will do.
My issue right now, although I have many. I wanted to know if there is any risk with keeping the carotid artery as it is.
And should I have or experincing any pain from that area.

Thank you

Diane

Once the carotid vessel is occluded, we usually dont try to open it unless the total blockage has occurred moments ago. This is because the success with opening it when it has been occluded for some time is very low and the risk of causing a stroke is high
The risk of havinga stroke after the blood vessel is blocked is very low. It is unusual to have pain in the neck after this occurs

My right carotid artery dissected amd then clotted and let go causing my stroke. It is now 100% closed and my doctor told me the 3 other arteries feeding the brain are sufficient to keep it going. As one other poster said either 100% open or 100% closed is good. The inbetween is the problem.
