Chances of a second stroke

I have been told that if you have a stroke that the chances of having another is nine times greater.
I'm not sure what that figure is baed on. Does it mean that if you do nothing in terms of changing
your lifestyle? Or, does it mean that the first stroke did something to you that makes you more
at risk?
Thanks,
Tom

That sounds like a good question to ask of the 1-800 numbers for either the NSA or ASA
