My dad's stroke left him paralyzed on his right side and his isn't able to speak. He has fought therapy at times. I doubt it is depression, maybe just things trying to reconnect in her brain. This has been the most frustrating experience in my life. It is amazing how far my dad has come in the past 12 weeks, but very depressing compared to where he was the day before the stroke. Give things time and you will be amazed when you look back at the progress she will make.
Thanks for your response.
My mom is getting back her swallowing ability. Now the big problem we face is that she acts like a child,..for example she says things over and over . She doesn't care about her situation(left side paralyzed), so doesn't coaporate with physiotherapist. I am not sure if it is because of depression or something els. Did you ever had the same experience?
My father had a stroke in June and the nurses gave him a sponge that they rubbed around in his mouth and on his teeth to give him moisture. The swallowing problem will get better with therapy. Best of luck.
