Exhaustation 8 monthes after stroke

My husband had a stroke last year and is always tired.  He is 50 years old and this was his second stroke after a more mild one three years before.  My concern is what to do about the exhausation. He has returned to work, is eating well and does commute 45 minutes each way every week day but his exhausation seems to be extreme. We have spoken to his doctor who told him to take multi-vitamins which have not helped.  Any advice would be welcome as I am very concerned about the apparent link between exhaustion and death within three years of the stroke.
Thank you in advance.

I almost cried reading this - I, too, had a stroke - noted to not be major - since the stroke I have been physically exhausted - I work full time, and it literally drains me.  It is difficult for me to get up in the morning - regardless of amount of sleep.  Exercise is just unheard of at this time - I used to be very, very active - theater productions, going out socially, yardwork, etc...energy is just zapped.  In fact, I recently fell and broke my leg - unrelated, I hope - and utilizing the crutches was excruciating as far as energy level, etc.  Has anyone found any process that assists - multivitamins are a no good.

I had a stroke 25 years ago on my left side. I am 33 y.o,exhaustion and fatigue is a part of my life. Each day I have to monitor what I do and how much I can give - which now is normal for me.Doing yoga really helps to strengthen the nervous system - so too does eating a lot of foods rich in B vitamins, as well as fresh food. The first two years are the hardest but gradually energy does return - yet it may not be to the same degree as to what you had before.

I am 50 years old and in May, I survived two bilateral brain stem strokes...I seem to be sleeping and just dozing off.  I get more tired when I have to think out complex problems, get tested in occupational therepy or do PT...I mean 30 minutes of PT and I have to sleep....My left side has been affected unlike your right side...I have no feelings in my left hand or foot.  My face feels like it has melted but I have feeling there....
Don't feel like the lone ranger bud because it stinks, it really stinks...I was feeling alone until I started attending rehab and there seems to be a whole lot of stroke survivors...That in itself made me feel "not alone".....
Be careful of vitamins if you are on a blood thinner !!!!!!
Vitamin K is a no-no.....Good buy my sweet cole slaw and spinich....
I am glad you can still type e-mail though..Good Luck to all of us

I am 54 and I had a small stroke 5 months ago and have the same problem; I get exhausted very easily.  I have tried exercising to build up my metabolism but that seems to just tire me out even more!

I was a diligent exercise person before and naievely thought that just increasing my exercise levels would bring my strength and stamina back.  This has been disappointing.  Your husband is probably extremely frustrated too. I have not seen a relationship between hard efforts and energy recovery.  Vitamins and supplements have not increased my stamina measureably either.

When I talk to my medical specialists about this problem they act as is I should only be grateful to still be alive and they have no real interest in helping me get back to what I was like before.  Encourage your husband anyway and try to understand how frustrating it is to want to feel healthy and energetic again but no matter what you do you feel exhausted.   If I come up with anything further I will let you know.  God speed.
