Ischemic stroke

My wife went to the emergency room after an apparent seizure which occurred in a doctors office. This doctor had injected lidocaine into a neck artery before the attack.  The doctor's office was adjacent to the hospital.  While in the ER, she had an MRI.  Shortly thereafter she went totally blind.  The on-call neurologist never responded to the three times the ER called him.  He eventually responded about 7 hours later after looking at her MRI on his home computer and said it was an ischemic stroke.  No other hospital would accept her as the window of opportunity for treating her had passed.  The first day thereafter she was totally blind, the next day her blindness was vascillating from eye to eye. Mentally she is totally confused in her thoughts, although she speaks clearly.  She has also had at least one spasmotic attack while in the hospital.  Her doctor said that now he believes her blindness, brain swelling, and mental confusion is due to a severe migraine even though she is in the ISU stroke center of the hospital.  Is any of this believable..... or do we have some CYA going on.?
