MTHFR mutation homozygous as a cause of sroke

Has anyone heard of MTHFR homozygous mutation as the cause of a stroke. And once you have had a stroke what are your chances off getting another one with this mutated gene.

My heart goes out to you and your daughter; the thought of a child having a stroke is terrifying.

I just recently (yesterday) had my labs come back showing that I had 2 copies of the MTHFR C677T mutation. My mother and grandmother both had strokes, my mom had her's young at 37 and my grandmother eventually died from heart disease. I'm seeing a hematologist tomorrow, but I am really nervous and would like any insight you may have. I was told to stop my birth control immediately, I assume I'll find out more tomorrow at the hematologist appt.

I'm trying not to let my nerves get the best of me...any advice for some one who is new to all of this??

I am doing more research but when my daughter was 7 she did have a stroke that was later attributed to having the mutated MTHFR enzyme. We have been told that she is now at a higher chance of having another so she is on aspirin therapy to help prevent it from happening again. She is now 17. I would love to share more if you like.
