Mild Stroke Problems

by catalyst, Aug 08, 2005 12:00AM
My mother in law had a mild stroke about 2 years ago.
She was living alone but getting lost in her car and unable to pay bills so we determined she should live with us and not drive anymore. She will forget my name and things like how to make toast, do dishes, turn on the washing machine and TV.  Sometimes when we get home it looks as though she has not eaten all day. She is very smart and well read but has problems putting thoughts together in her head. Any treatments available?
Can we leave her alone?

I hope she's not suffering from:

Alzheimer’s (AHLZ-high-merz) disease is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person’s memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities.

Refer to family doctor immdiately for further investigation and treatments. Early detection reduce symptoms of getting worst.
