Hi,
I want to ask a question regarding my father. He had a brain stroke in 2009. He recovered, however it did affect his mobility. He was not able to walk without support and for a long distance. Walking was limited, in the house. Last week he had a stroke again and it was along with a heart attack which we only came to know after the doctor informed us. During the time at the hospital, the Echo 2D test showed irregular heartbeat and the doctors suggested Angiography. The Angiography did not come out very well and multiple blockages were found, ranging from 50% to 100%.
Doctors suggested bypass as Angioplasty wouldn't help. As my father is almost 75 years old and as he has a critical brain clot, diabetes and also piles, we felt that it would be too difficult for him to handle the bypass, hence kept him on medication.
Now the problem has escalated and he is more or less bed ridden. He is able to sit if we help me sit on the bed on in the chair, however cannot do it on his own. This information was just to let you know the background. The most difficult part is, he was not able to control his stool. He is not able to understand or realize when he is passing the stool and it has become very difficult to handle this. Can anyone tell me if this is due to the stroke which has hampered his ability to understand/control his stool. Is there an medicine or treatment in this case.
Looking forward to your responses at the earliest.
Thank you.
