Post Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery Expectations

by misigotit, Oct 28, 2005 12:00AM
My 74 year-old mother who has a history of highpertension, suffered a massive stroke and went into cardiac arrest on Oct 1, 2005.  She has spent 2 weeks in ICU and is now at 11 days on the Rehab floor of the hospital.  We were informed that we should be thinking of rehabilitation options for our Mom.  Mom, at this time has a trachea tube and is being feed by a peg tube in the stomach.  We do not know anything about rehab beyond the fact that we do not want our mother in a nursing home.  Please help clear up some facts concerning rehab for her.  She is unable to speak, but seems to be regaining some movement on her right side.  She recognizes her family members, but seems to think that she is at her home and not in the hospital.  Also She does not recall what happened to her and does not recall that her mother is deceased (died about 10 years ago).  What do we need to do?

Try acupuncture and physical therapy together. The early treatment the better results and it will also speed up the recovery.

Acupuncture will help her dysphagia, hemiplegia and aphasia. Prof. Zhu, a famous licensed neuro acupuncturis, has a lot of experiences in stroke rehab. Please check his website at www.scalpacupuncture.org and they can refer licensed acupuncturist in where you live.

There are a lot articles about acupuncture and stroke you can find from the internet, please do a search.

After practising acupuncture for 13 years I found that scalpacupuncture works the best for stroke patients.
