Recovering father has field cuts, but vision is blurred

by VTHokie06, Apr 23, 2009 09:48AM
My Dad had a stroke 2.5 months ago and has gone from the hospital to inpatient rehab to now assisted living and plans to leave there in 1 week for home (he lives alone).  He will have some in-home care daily, and he's 61.

His vision is his main problem, he has severe left side field cuts, but what worries him most is that the things he can see are blurry.  Upon examination by his ophthalmologist last month, they said his glasses were fine.

I'm not sure if they said this because there is a normal waiting period after stroke before you can get a new prescription.

Anyway, I was wondering what others' experiences were with vision problems as a result of stroke.  His has improved quite a bit from at first, when he couldn't really see at all.  I would hope that an eye doctor could fix blurred vision with a new prescription for glasses.  I know that the areas affected by the field cuts may never come back.
