Boy, lahvina, your advice about making sure they don't give "chemical straightjacket meds" was great! You are right on the jackson beam when you state those meds interfere with rehabilitation, evaluation and recovery. You get points.
Not sure how old your loved one is, but have you talked to your local agency on aging? They have helped my mother out alot with in home care. As far as the therapy, be sure that at the facility they are not giving him meds that will make him sleepy and not able to do the therapy. THis is what happened to my dad. They were giving him ativan, which made him very out of it, so when it came time for the therapy, he wasn't able to do it. The insurance then quit paying for the therapy because they said he had reached his full potential. After alot of fighting with the facility and the insurance company we were finally able to get him of the meds and back into therapy, but after 3 months of just sitting and it was hard to make a lot of progress. He is now at home, but still can't walk. He can stand with assistance....Godd luck....
