Seizure or stroke?

I am 38 yr old female with a history of medical problems. See other questions. A couple of weeks ago while I was asleep I started feeling weird. Then my whole body went numb. I fought to wake up and finally did so. When I woke up I thought someone was trying to hit me in the face so I was a bit startled. Then I realized it was my hand. My hand and arm were jerking uncontrollably. And my hand was drawn up. Any help with this and my other symptoms would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Also my mother died at age 43 from stroke.
Some of my medical history,....asthma,hypertension,hypoglycemia,arrythmia,etc

Thank you for your information. I have had one seizure when I was very small due to fever. But my mother died at 43 from massive stroke so I am really worried. I have a phobia of doctors but I know I will end up having to see one. I am uninsured at this time I will see if I can find a clinic that will see me. I have way too many health problems for my age. Thank you again

I`m not a doctor, but recently I´ve been doing a lot of reading on the topic and still learning a lot.  I know that untreated or uncontroled hypertension and heart conditions as arytmia can be factors of danger of stroke.  The seizure is also an alarm you should pay attention too if you aren´t epileptic.  If you have a family historu of stroke it is another factor of danger.

Do yourself a great favor and visit a neurologist right away...and see a cardiologist and do something about your arrymtia and artereal hypertension.  Time is "gray matter" that could be dying off because of ischemia (a type of stroke that kills your brain because of clots that blocks your arteries that supply blood and oxygen to your brain) as you read this.  Neurons lost are irreplacezable.
